Adrien joined the ASO in December 2006 as its General Manager, having previously served as Orchestra Manager at American University and Music Administrator of Glimmerglass Opera and also having held positions with The Newport Music Festival and Portland Chamber Music Festival (Maine). He was appointed Executive Director of the ASO during the 2007-2008 Season. An amateur pianist, he studied music and French as an undergraduate at Harvard University. Such a course of study allowed for extended periods of time studying and working abroad in France. Originally from Rhode Island, Adrien came to the Washington, DC, area in the fall of 2005 to enter the MA in Arts Management program at American University, which he completed in August 2007. He is an opera- and food-lover and is eagerly anticipating the 2009-2010 Inspired by Nature Season and the amazing roster of soloists the ASO will host.

She works closely with Music Director Kluge and the Musicians’ Union to find the best musicians in the area for the ASO concerts. She received her musical training at the University of California at Santa Barbara, and Fontainbleau, France, encouraged by her musician/conductor father, James Swift. She has been part of the Washington, DC area musical scene since 1975 as a player, contractor, librarian, and teacher. Current responsibilities involving the first three roles find her working at Wolf Trap, Kennedy Center Opera House, Concert Artists of Baltimore, Post-Classical Ensemble and Opera Camerata in addition to the ASO. She teaches cello at the Levine School of Music, Episcopal High School and at her McLean home.

She also volunteers for a host of arts and literary organizations in the area, including the Corcoran Art Gallery, the Cultural Development Corporation and Book Fruits. When not volunteering, she is exploring the Shaw and Logan circle neighborhoods of D.C. with her two dogs, attending a concert at the 9:30 Club or catching a film in downtown DC.
