Shannon “DOAH” Washington lives in Prince George’s County, Maryland, but grew up in the city of Boston, where she was entrenched in various progressive art programs from grammar school thru college. Always encouraged to explore her creative appetite, her artistry evolved from archiving precious family memories to short films and series. Her storytelling is impassioned by her love for Black culture and exploring the diversity of the Black experience. Her films and series are often a melodic blend of intellect, wit, and emotion, driven by artistic expression. Her philosophy of being constantly curious and perpetually evolving is a staple of her work. As an indie filmmaker and creative, her content is often built from her resourcefulness, but she feels this pushes her more to enrich creativity with the motto: Quality storytelling over big budget.
