Patron Trip to Germany 2021
Update: This Trip has been rescheduled to September 19-27, 2021
Patrons of the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra will embark on a very special tour to Germany. We will visit three cities—Berlin, Dresden and Leipzig—with sterling musical legacies and current offerings that are among the best in the world. We will hear the Gewandhaus Orchestra in its home, and share many amazing musical opportunities.
For Maestro Ross, it will also be a very personal odyssey. He was the first American to become a member of the Gewandhaus orchestra, and to be mentored by Maestro Kurt Masur, who inspired his career as a conductor.
Berlin is the home to major orchestras and opera houses with one of the liveliest music scenes in the world. The courtly and bejeweled city of Dresden is a major venue for great music with an orchestra, the Dresden Staatskapelle, the oldest on German soil. And Leipzig, Maestro Ross’s former home town, is home to Bach’s Thomaskirche, the homes of Mendelssohn and Schumann, and the Museum of Musical Instruments.
The full itinerary is outlined in the attached brochure from Classical Movements; prices are attached on a separate sheet. Click here to sign up and join us for this marvelous opportunity! Participation is limited so don’t miss out!
