Alexandria Symphony Orchestra Offers Free Tickets to Government Impacted Employees

Alexandria, VA – November 3, 2025 – The Alexandria Symphony Orchestra (ASO) is extending complimentary tickets to government workers impacted by the ongoing shutdown. In doing so, ASO is proud to stand with other D.C. arts organizations committed to uplifting and engaging members of the community during this period.
“For over eight decades, ASO has brought the power of performance to the DMV region,” says ASO’s Executive Director George Hanson. “Our mission centers on a strong commitment to community, celebrating how the arts connect people and ensuring that creative experiences remain accessible to everyone. Especially now, when many may need the arts most, we’re dedicated to making that access even easier.”

Saturday, November 8, 2025 • 7:30 p.m. | Mozart & Mendelssohn
Rachel M. Schlesinger Concert Hall and Arts Center
November’s program mixes classics of the late classical and early romantic periods including Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 4, inspired by the composer’s tour of Italy. ASO welcomes Pittsburgh Symphony clarinetist Michael Rusinek, performing Mozart’s virtuosic Clarinet Concerto. Then travel to the 20th century with György Ligeti’s colorful Concert Românesc and Scott Joplin’s overture to moving folk opera Treemonisha.

Alexandria’s favorite holiday musical tradition returns featuring stirring choruses from Handel’s Messiah. And dancers from BalletNova performing the greatest moments from The Nutcracker. Plus carols, classics and other sparkling favorites of the season.
