From ushering at concerts to assisting ASO staff in running special events and the day-to-day work in the office, volunteers are a vital part of the Symphony.
The ASO is responsible for providing ushers at all of its concerts. Organized by an usher coordinator, ushers ensure that all patrons obtain their seats in a timely manner. Ushers are also able to hear concerts, though seats are not always available.
If you are interested in ushering, please email Cecilia Stroud at email@example.com with your name and which concerts under Performances you have availability to do. Ushers are asked to arrive at least one-hour before a concert.
The ASO regularly seeks volunteers both for concerts and events outside of ushers. Interested volunteers perform critical duties such as assisting at the box office at Schlesinger Center, selling concessions and wine, helping soloists with CD signings, and assisting with set-up and clean-up for special events and fundraisers.
OFFICE ASSISTANCE AND INTERNSHIPS
Vital to the success of the ASO is the regular presence of volunteers and interns as part of the administrative office team. Some volunteers spend one morning a month assisting ASO staff in such tasks as distributing press materials and organizing grant applications. Interns may receive credit for volunteering at the ASO, and recenter internships have focused on updating the ASO’s databases and working on viral marketing for concerts.
Please email Ryan Jordan at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions about office assistance or internships.
